The Charles H. Ivey Foundation was incorporated without share capital December 11, 1957 under the laws of the Province of Ontario by the late Charles Herbert Ivey M.C., distinguished Canadian businessman and humanitarian. Early directors were his two sons, Peter J. Ivey, C. Robert Ivey and his daughter Joanne Ivey Mazzoleni.
The Foundation’s first disbursement and longest continuous support has been to Cystic Fibrosis Research. Over the years, as a result of gifts, legacies and investment gains, the Foundation’s capital assets have increased to $6,422,676 as of December 2006. Since its beginning, grants disbursed exceed $5,062,009. In 2006 the Foundation granted $173,843 to 28 charitable organizations. The largest grants over the years have gone to Cystic Fibrosis, The Royal Conservatory of Music, the Royal Canadian Regiment and The National Service Dogs, to name a few. The Foundation’s members meet four times a year.
